Eckart Schmidt · 1985 · Berlin
Look at the corner from Seydelstraße, where the prefab blocks step around the turn.
Eckart Schmidt led the design of Spitteleck, an East Berlin housing complex built between 1980 and 1985 at Seydelstraße and Wallstraße.
It shows how GDR prefab housing could take on a heavier, sculptural form. It is not listed, and the SOS Brutalism database includes it.
