St. Norbert

Hermann Fehling, Daniel Gogel, Peter Pfankuch · 1962 · Berlin

Enter through the narrow opening in the blank front wall and climb the sculptural stair.

Karl Kühn built St. Norbert between 1913 and 1918. War damage and a street widening removed its twin towers, and Fehling, Gogel and Pfankuch rebuilt it from 1960 to 1962 with a reinforced concrete bell tower and new wings.

A windowless rough-plaster wall now faces the street, and polygonal additions house a baptistery and parish rooms. The old domed nave survives inside. The complex is a listed monument.
